Seven Magic Mountains was an unplanned stop on our road trip. We are actually attending a wedding in September in Las Vegas and my plan was to visit it then, but the problem we had was transportation since we were flying and it’s probably an hour away from North Vegas where we will be staying. Since we were around Zion National Park and realized it’s only about a two hour drive, we got up early and left around 5 a.m. and made the trip out there so I knew I could see it for sure! Luckily, I had the perfect dress along with me to make our photos even better! More on that…but first,
What is Seven Magic Mountains?
Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale public art installation consisting of seven stacks of giant colorful boulders piled on top of each other, brought to you by the Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. Known as “A creative expression of human presence in the desert”, it’s really a perfect place for a fabulous photo op!
How Do You Get There?
(From Las Vegas) You can find these massive boulders heading south on I-15. Take the Sloan Road exit (exit 25). After you exit, there will be signs. Take a left off the exit and then you’re next right (S Las Vegas Blvd). Travel seven more miles and you will see the boulders to your left. It is in the middle of the desert, nothing else around, but there is a parking lot!
When is the best time to go?
The answer is simple, when a city that never sleeps is sleeping, sunrise. We were there around 7-8 a.m., slightly after sunrise and there were very few people there. A couple people came while we were there and took their photos and left before us. We pretty much had the whole installation to ourselves! So, If you’re looking to avoid a crowd and want a pretty sky, I would say sunrise is the best. The only issue is the shadows from the boulders in your photos while the sun is rising.
Luckily, by chance, I had the perfect dress with me from my favorite online shop LuLu*s.com!
LuLu*s is an online only shop that I’ve been in love with for years! I always shop there before my travels so I know I’m always wearing the most current styles. The Cloud Rider White Maxi Dress was perfect for my Seven Magic Mountains photo op!
This dress is a “perfect summer day” dress! I love the collar, the way it flows and of course, the color. I don’t know what it is about white, but every time I wear it, I feel like a Greek goddess. The great thing about this dress is that I can wear a normal actual bra with it! I’m in my 30’s and comfortable style is what I’m all about! I also have a bigger bust and the button-up front leaves no gap, which is hard for us bigger chested girls to find! The length is quite long, but after a washing, it does shrink. Now, it’s the perfect length for me and I’m 5’3″, so keep that in mind! The top is not lined, but the bottom is and it has a nice slit up the front for some ventilation!
